The rediscovery of artistic creations made by hands work.

As an academically educated painter, I made paintings for years before and during my studies. After completing my studies and some years of painstaking experience as an art teacher at high school, I chose the genre of performance art as my means of expression, because I wanted to directly influence the audience with my art. Also in the public space, because I always worked on higher-level statements and content than my individual interest I was also able to test my effectiveness in front of an unprepared audience.
Nevertheless, as a performance artist, you are dependent on (paid!) invitations in the context of art, so that somehow you make a living. In the face of the many boxes containing relics of the respective performances, I decided to transform the content into art that everyone can relate to. First, I made so-called "rugs" from my father's shirts according to the oldest knotting technique in the world. Meanwhile, a variety of techniques have come on top of it. Each object has its own concept. Either I try a new technique, or I make an object for someone who gives me his t-shirts specifically for this purpose. I also experiment with three-dimensional shapes, or with color gradients. For this I also use old clothes, which were submitted by the population in the so-called "Brauchbar" (a free shop) which I also supervise. I reduce my own wardrobe to an absolute minimum for this purpose. During my stays in Israel, I use the clothes discarded in the Kibbutz or clothes specially entrusted to me for the purpose. Sometimes I take the material (cut clothes) in the suitcase to Germany, so as to produce objects that documents the connection between the two countries.
In the exhibition, the objects, which can also be used as seating or for playing, are nailed to the wall like pictures or draped like sculptures.
During the exhibition, I show the guests, who have brought their own clothes, the different methods of "rug" weaving. The simplicity and mobility of the production is important to me. Any kind of mechanization is avoided. In joint work, we discuss the border between handicraft and artwork.
Does the authorship of the respective manufacturer or the result make the work an art piece? Or is it the naming of such by the artist and / or by the viewer? Or does the object have to have reputation as such only in the official art world? Or does the artist have to be so renowned that everything made by his hands can be called art and thus become valuable?
