9 performances for #99sharingcrisis 2020
On September 11, performance artist and curator Qing Cai launched a global performance art cyberspace exhibition titled "Sharing Crisis". Regardless of country and network, artists are invited to join. Any medium may be used, as long as the artist himself completes the nine new works within 100 days from making the first post on the Internet. Basic information regarding each work should not exceed 30 words and will displayed side by side with the image.
P1 maceration
Taking advantage of the inability to travel I had my arthritic hip replaced with an artificial joint. I prepare the removed bone and turn it into a durable bone sculpture.
P2 unmasking
The full body cover hides me as an individual. Unmasking liberates the senses needed for survival, the nose for breathing, the mouth for eating, the eyes for monitoring the environment.
P3 eggshell
The cover offers protection, but it also hides and isolates me. Newspapers from the time of my birth allude to the genesis of my life. Moving with a shield goes slowly.
P4 Matter
Without being able to perform live in front of audience, I transform my performance relics into material works. They are heavy and difficult to move, opposite to the familiar transience.
P5 Facing
I uncover my face and face reality. With the ointment, my father always used for healing I protect the parts of the body that are most exposed to external influences.
P6 Invisible
Creating and installing art is hard work. If the public cannot come to the art, the art has to be carried away until its possible to make it visible again.
P7 Magic
There is no such as social distancing in the non-ordinary reality. The spirits are always here when we call them. In their colorful world I am happy.
P8 Sensitive
When we are a lot on our own, we become more sensitive to our body and soul. That’s a good thing but often painful. It helps to heal our wounds.
P9 Solipsism
Art is the umbilical cord that nourishes the artist. When the outside view is missing, our view sometimes narrows. We have to get out with our art, no matter how.
