Break Through #24 - make it through

As a contrast to the original performance, in which I penetrated the masonry of a 75 cm thick protection wall (fire and explosion) with simple tools, I now use "soft" material to refill the hole. Over the last four years, the window that represents the world's smallest performance space has become a place of transformation. For this, international artists have generated works that deal with the existence itself, the world outside of our reality and the transformation of physical into spiritual beings.
As the one who generated the space and declared it an art project, now is time to fill the hole I hit. Homemade objects, made of materials that contain memories of my personal and artistic biography, but are also gifts and memories of others, serve as filling material. My own body is the center of the filled-up space.
Visitors who have also made objects or come in as spectators help to fill the space until I almost become immobilized. My arms can, however, free me from the situation at any time and it is part of the performance to dismantle the installation together with the audience.

A hole in a thick wall represents an injury. The motivation to break through that wall was to make the ongoing events on the creative quarter more permeable. To combine old stuff- the area of my studio on the front was already for a long time action space for cultural activities - with the new. Just that same year, the activists had managed to take over new art and culture buildings located at the back of my studio.
It only became clear to me that it was an act of violence, when I realized the thickness of the wall during the process of breaking through. Over the years, as an activist on the “Creativ Quarter”, I took more and more distance from loud and brute actions and let many of the grand plans for my impact on site go. For me, the Zona Libre, a socio-cultural initiative that contains foodsharing, a free shop, a kitchen garden and solidarity farming, has remained as my scope for action. What's also left is the "world's smallest performance space" in my studio and my studio itself as a creative pool and launch pad for me as an artist out into the world.
To fill the "wound" with lovingly crafted miniature objects that are colorful, happy, soft and made of recycled and emotionally charged material and with my own vulnerable body currently corresponds well to my attitude to the happenings in and around my studio.
