Spitz, watch out!
I collect worn clothes from the people I meet. Sitting in front of our accommodation in Norogachi I make small round mats. I teach the technique of Amish rug weavings to interested people.
In the garden of the master of ceremonies of the current Raramuri festival, I put the pieces in a marked circle on the ground. On each of them I put sweets and little toys. The participants runing in circles around the objects. When my assistant rattles with the rattle, they must pull the mats with the string out of the circle as quickly and carefully as possible. At the same time I try to capture them with the magic hat.
We play until the sweets are used up.
The game is simple and we have fun together.
It does not feel right to present a staged art performance to the present Raramuri families. During the preparation periode I try to make contacts through manual labor (the ratamuris make wonderful weavings of wool and pine needles). The easiest way to contact the kids is through playing games.

Im Garten der Zeremonienmeisterin des aktuellen Raramurifestivals lege ich die Webstücke in einen Kreidekreis auf den Boden. Darauf kommen Süßigkeiten und kleine Spielsachen. Die Mitwirkenden laufen im Kreis um die Objekte herum. Wenn meine Assistentin mit der Rassel rasselt, müssen sie so schnell und vorsichtig wie möglich die Süßigkeiten and der Schnur aus dem Kreis ziehen. Gleichzeitig versuche ich mit dem Zauberhut sie einzufangen.
Wir spielen so lange, bis die Süßigkeiten verbraucht sind.
Das Spiel ist simpel und wir haben gemeinsam Spaß.
Es kommt mir nicht richtig vor, vor den anwesenden Raramurifamilien eine abstakte Kunstperformance zu präsentieren. Ich versuche im Vorfeld über Handarbeit (die Ratamuris machen wundervolle Webarbeiten aus Wolle und aus Piniennadeln) Kontakte zu knüpfen. Mit den Kindern geht die Kontaktaufnahme am leichtesten über Spiel.
